She sends the first date debrief to her best friend. Except it is not her best friend.
Jack: Home safe?
Me: Home! Okay so he was SO cute
Me: He laughed at all my jokes. Even the bad one about penguins
Me: And he knocked over the salt and apologized to it
Jack: Apologized to the salt?
Me: To the SALT. I think I like him
Jack: Who’s “him”?
Me: The guy from tonight, keep up
Jack: The guy who knocked over the salt?
Me: Yes!
Jack: That was me
Me: Oh no
Me: I thought this was Zara
Jack: I gathered
Me: Please delete everything
Jack: Deleted. Still laughing at the penguin joke though
Jack: Second date Friday? I’ll bring my own salt

Original fiction by FrameCompose. Every name and event is invented.
The reader can spot the mistake before she does, because the contact name sits at the top of the chat the whole time. That is dramatic irony, and it makes every gushing message funnier.
Jack does what she asks and deletes the lot, then brings back the penguin joke, so an embarrassing slip turns into a second date.
Send something kinder than expected to the wrong person: a thank-you meant for someone else, or a gift list with their name at the top.
“Open in the maker” loads this chat in Instagram DM colors with every name and message editable, and the menu above the chat switches to any other preset.
This story has 17 messages, so “Make this a video” opens it as 17 chat clips and 16 typing pauses, about 83 seconds long before you change any timing.
Slow down before the brave reply. A longer pause there makes the reader wait the way the character did. Add optional narration or music, then export. Keeping the video uses a free FrameCompose account, and the chat images are drawn from the text, so preparing the clips uses no AI image credits.
